What is Breathwork?

Humans have been tapping into the power of their breath for centuries mainly for self healing, meditative relaxation, and spiritual awakening. Our breath is the only automatic and controlled system in the human body. Meaning that when we don’t consciously think about it, our body still breaths itself. BUT when we become conscious of each breath, this is when the magic happens. We can hold our breath. We can elongate our inhales and exhales. Deep breathing increases the supply of oxygen to our brain and stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system which promotes a state of calmness. This is what breathwork is. Once the body is in this meditative state we are able to move stagnant energy. Limiting-beliefs and trauma can get physically stuck in our tissue. As we send an over abundance of oxygen through our blood we can soften these entanglements. Breathwork journeys can be a beutiful combination of physical and emotional relief.
